Versioning Information

This article intends to clarify the versioning schedule for MineSync.

A specific understanding of versioning is not required for installation or usage. The instructions listed in the installation manual will suffice. Simply use the versions of the products given in that installation package.

The MineSync package contains two folders, one containing the XenForo part of MineSync (that is uploaded to your XenForo installation) and the other part being the Server part of MineSync (this is installed as a plugin on your server(s)). These have separate versions. The XenForo version is maintained independently to the server plugin.

XenForo versions

MineSync currently has 2 maintained major versions of MineSync, 2 and 3.

MineSync 2: MineSync 2.x versions are for XenForo 1. These are the current supported versions for XF1. MineSync 2.x is currently being actively maintained for support and updates.

MineSync 3: MineSync 3.x versions are for XenForo 2. These are the current supported versions for XF2. MineSync 3.x is currently being actively maintained for support and updates.

Version 1 was retired and is no longer supported or maintained. Please note that both MineSync 2 and 3 are being maintained for support and updates. These are separate products and only work for specific XenForo versions, as outlined above.

To use MineSync 2.x, you must use XenForo 1.x, and for MineSync 3.x you must use XenForo 2.x. You can upgrade from MineSync 2.x and carry your data over. The upgrade process does this automatically.

Minecraft versions

The MineSync plugin versioning changed on 31/03/2018. Any updates released after this date will use the new versioning system. Any old releases will use the old versioning system.

Server node S2.x: Supports MineSync 2.0.4+, 2.1.x, 3.0.3+

The change

New versioning (after 31/03/2018):

The MineSync server is versioned separate to the XenForo versions. If in doubt, use the version distributed to you in the download package.

Old versioning (before 31/03/2018):

The versioning is the same as your XenForo version. Use the version distributed to you in the download package.

As of 23/11/2018, package file names will show the XF and server version bundled in the package, e.g. the filename "MineSync-3.2.1_S2.1.0.zip" refers to XF version 3.2.1 and server version S2.1.0.
